EAST BANK COMMUNICATIONS SELF PROMO
A small agency in Portland needed some promotional material to earn new business, but at the time, didn’t have much of a portfolio of work to show off on their website. So my partner, Jason Maurer and I decided to make the communication all about shifting the blame of poor marketing results to prospective clients’ current agencies. We invented a business self-help guru to guide agencies through the process of shifting the blame: Dr. Gary.
We printed about a thousand books and sent them out to prospective clients—and the foam finger could actually be ordered on the last page of the book. The campaign did very well, and even won a Rosy Award in the self promotion category.
